Grief Counseling

Grief comes from any significant loss, and it can touch every area of life.

At Total Health Guidance, we provide both individual grief counseling and monthly grief workshops to help you process loss in a healthy and healing way.

Common Sources of Grief We Treat

Grief is most often associated with the death of a loved one, but it can arise from many types of loss, including:

  • Death of a friend or family member
  • Loss of a job or career change
  • Death of a pet
  • Divorce or separation
  • Life transitions such as moving, retirement, or empty nest
  • Loss of a dream or major life goal

Understanding the Grieving Process

Most people have heard of the 5 Stages of Grief, but simply knowing them doesn’t guarantee healthy processing. Sometimes people get stuck in one or more stages. You may know someone who:

  • Has been depressed for years after a loss
  • Remains angry at a doctor, family member, or circumstance
  • Replays “what if” scenarios over and over

These emotions are normal but so is moving through them toward acceptance. Our grief counseling offers compassionate guidance to help you keep moving forward while honoring your loss.

Individual Grief Counseling

In one-on-one grief counseling, we:

  • Provide a safe space to express emotions without judgment
  • Teach coping skills for navigating sadness, anger, and guilt
  • Help you make meaning from your loss and integrate it into your life
  • Support you through anniversaries, holidays, and triggers

Counseling is available in person at our Orlando office or virtually for your convenience.

Monthly Grief Workshop

We offer a 4-hour experiential grief workshop each month to help participants better understand and process their grief.

Workshop Highlights:

Total Health Guidance’s four-hour therapeutic grief workshop blends the Dual Process Model of Grief which emphasizes oscillation between loss-oriented and restoration-oriented coping with Worden’s Four Tasks of Mourning and Bowlby’s Four Phases of Grief, creating a dynamic, compassionate space for healing.

Participants will engage in guided reflection, experiential activities, and gentle psychoeducation that honor their unique grief journeys. The workshop balances emotional expression with restoration-focused resilience-building, offering opportunities to process pain, explore meaning, and reconnect with life beyond loss. A touch of humor and shared human connection helps create a space where attendees feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Through carefully structured exercises, participants will:

  • Explore personal grief responses across mind, body, and spirit
  • Identify meaningful ways to carry forward memories
  • Address internal, external, and spiritual adjustments after loss
  • Engage in a “Let Go / Carry Forward” ritual and take-home affirming keepsakes

This program is suitable for those grieving the loss of a loved one at any stage. It also supports anyone coping with other forms of loss, including divorce, job loss, loss of a dream, or other significant life changes.

How to Join

Workshops are offered once a month. Space is limited to 5 participants to ensure personalized attention. We accept insurance for the grief workshop when applicable.
